Major Programs and Initiatives

Connected Casebooks

The Connected Casebook is an all-in-one learning solution that combines the print casebook with lifetime access to CasebookConnect.com at no additional cost. CasebookConnect.com features a full e-book version of your casebook; a Study Center complete with practice questions from leading study aids like the Examples & Explanations and Emanuel Law in a Flash cards; outlining and case briefing tools to enhance your learning and save you time; and a topical news feed to connect what you are learning to your everyday lives.

Designed in collaboration with hundreds of faculty and students, the Connected Casebook is a significant leap forward in the legal education learning tools available to students.

Students today, especially first-year law students, need many avenues of engagement with the subject matter to really understand the material and how to apply it. I believe that the CasebookConnect features such as the short explanatory videos, textual explanations, and multiple choice and other practice questions greatly assisted my Contracts students in developing a mastery of the subject.
—Grace M. Giesel, Bernard Flexner Professor and Distinguished Teaching Professor, University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law

LawClassFeedback

LawClassFeedback is a revolutionary assessment product that provides an easy way to deliver formative assessments to your students throughout your course, allowing you to quickly know what your students have mastered and, more importantly, what they have not. Available for 1L courses and major electives, LawClassFeedback provides four, pre-made quizzes for each course that can be easily customized to assess your students on the topics you cover.

LawClassFeedback provides insight to students on their mastery of a topic. Upon completion of a quiz, students receive helpful feedback—including a thorough rationale for each answer and suggested pages to review in their casebook. Powerful reporting enables both students and their professors to identify problem areas. Faculty reports help educators gauge class understanding of how their course is performing as a whole, as well as pinpoint where students are struggling. Student reports help them know what topics to review and where to find related content in their textbook.

Leading Edge

Leading Edge is thinking differently about Legal Education, and putting those thoughts into actionable strategies. Beginning in early 2014, Wolters Kluwer Legal Education launched a new focus on helping innovators in legal education share their perspectives on the future of law school teaching and curriculum with a broad audience drawn from across the community. At the core of the program is the Leading Edge Conference, an annual gathering of legal education thought leaders looking to pool ideas and identify promising directions of exploration. Visit the Leading Edge page to view videos and a list of sessions from each conference.

The program also includes a periodic report, the Legal Education Leading Edge Report. Based on extensive interviews and surveys with deans, professors, and other stakeholders in the community, the Leading Edge Report is intended to succinctly summarize many of the key areas of focus for law schools today seeking to evolve their teaching model to meet the challenges and opportunities of 21st century legal education. The first (2015) edition is now available for free download from our Leading Edge page, or for purchase in a print edition.
